The U.S. Armed Forces moved a large number of special-operations aircraft and multiple cargo planes filled with troops and equipment into the Caribbean this week, as additional options are prepared for possible military action against Venezuela, according to U.S. officials and flight-tracking data seen by the Wall Street Journal.
At least 10 CV-22 “Osprey” Tiltrotor Military Aircraft, assigned to the U.S. Air Force’s 20th Special Operations Squadron, 27th Special Operations Wing, flew into the region Monday night from Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico, while C-17 Globemaster IIIs from Fort Stewart and Fort Campbell arrived Monday in Puerto Rico, possibly carrying troops from the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment and 101st Airborne Division.
